HP LaserJet M110w Printer

Printer says it is online, printout says it is online but smartprint/instant ink says its not

Help,  I've wasted 3 weekend tring to sort this, I'm going to bin it and buy a Canon.

Does anyone fancy a class action taking HP to court as they are fraudulently taking our instant ink money?

Hi @deedub93,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet M110w printer is showing as online and is able to print, but HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink is indicating that it's not online, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device, and that your internet connection is stable. A poor or intermittent internet connection can affect communication with HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink.
  • Update the HP Smart App: Make sure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app on your mobile device. Outdated app versions may not work correctly.
  • Reinstall HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink: Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink application. This can help resolve any software glitches or issues.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn it on and check if HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink recognizes it as online.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Go to the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware may resolve compatibility issues.
  • Ensure the Printer is Registered: Make sure your printer is registered with your HP Instant Ink account. If it's not properly registered, the service might not recognize it as online.
  • Printer Email Address: For HP Instant Ink, each printer is assigned an email address. Make sure that the email address associated with your printer is correct. You can check this in your HP Instant Ink account.
  • Firewall or Security Software: If you have firewall or security software on your network, it may be blocking the communication between the printer and HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink. Check your security settings and ensure that the printer is allowed to communicate with the necessary HP services.
  • Printer Status Page: Print a status page or network configuration page from your printer to confirm that it is indeed connected to the correct network and that it has an active IP address.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of your HP LaserJet M110w printer appearing online but not being recognized by HP SmartPrint or Instant Ink.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
