I am using Avery Design & Print. I open HP Smart preferences to select sttings, Tray to use, paper type etc and click Apply and OK. Then printer seems to activate but printer screen immediately shows "Canceling" and PC Screen shows message "Print Job Complete." So no sheet of labels printed. No error message on printer screen or PC afterwards - just as if print job was successful

Hi @joemccallan
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue where the printer cancels the print job immediately without actually printing anything. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is online and ready to print. Sometimes printers can go offline or be in a paused state.
Update HP Smart App: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app. Updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
Adjust Print Settings: Double-check the print settings in both the HP Smart app and Avery Design & Print. Make sure the paper size, type, and tray selections match what you have loaded in the printer.
Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause issues. Go to the Devices and Printers section in Control Panel, right-click your printer, and select "See what's printing." Clear any pending jobs.
Try a Different File Format: If possible, try exporting your Avery design as a PDF and print from that. Sometimes different file formats can work better with specific printers.
Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually find this option in the HP Smart app under printer settings.
Test with a Simple Document: Try printing a simple document or image from another application to see if the issue is specific to Avery Design & Print.
Reinstall Printer Driver: Uninstall and then reinstall the printer driver. This can resolve issues caused by corrupted drivers.
Use USB Connection: If you're currently printing wirelessly, try connecting the printer directly to your computer with a USB cable to see if that resolves the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
