HP Phaser 6510
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just got a new Dell XPS 17 laptop with Windows 10 Pro. HP printer is Phaser 6510. Other computers on the same network can print just fine. I can even print from wireless from my phone. But, this new Winbloze laptop insists that the printer is offline. The laptop can access the network just fine (for example it can see the Phaser 6510 status web page over the network). But Winbloze insists it is offline...

Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks!
Best Regards, Dave

Welcome to the HP Community.

Printer is offline if the connection between the printer, network, and the computer (Winbloze or otherwise) is not adequate to serve the printer software.  What?  Appearances can be deceiving.

If this is your printer and printer software:

HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer series - B211 Full Feature Software and Driver

At this writing, the printer software was last released in 2015

The printer software might still work in the latest versions of Windows 10.

Even less certain is whether the software will work in Windows 11 (not your question).

Try / Consider

  • Try changing the Connection Type to TCP/IP

  • If no joy, download and run the "Offline" Doctor version

=====================================================================

Method - Create TCP IP port (InkJet Printer)

Find printer's IP /  IPv4 address

Print a Configuration Page

OR

Tap on the wireless icon on Printer Control / Display Panel

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer > Left-Click Printer Properties

Select Tab Ports  > Add Port

Select Standard TCP/IP Port > New Port and follow the wizard.
Use / Enter IP address for the printer.

What else?

Resource – Choose the right doctor for the job

Open Website

HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows

Click the green Download Now option / box

Wait!

If the problem / issue is one of

  • Printer is Offline
  • Cannot print in Color
  • Duplex printing has disappeared

Try this “Offline” Doctor version:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

NOTES – The “Offline” doctor

As a result of repairing issues,

Offline / Color check / Duplex check version of the Doctor may replace the printer or add a “(Copy 1)” version of the driver in Devices and Printers.

If there are two printers in Devices and Printers,

If one of them does not work,

Try sending your job to the “Copy 1” named printer.

If you want / need to rename the “Copy 1” printer:

Open Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer name > Printer Properties > Tab General >

In the top box, Edit the name of the printer (For example, remove the part that says “Copy 1”)

Click Apply / OK to save change

NOTE:  The name change may take a bit of time (a few minutes), else Restart the computer and log in.
