HP Office Jet Pro 9016

This works perfectly for a year, and then began to show B305ED09 error and/ or offline. Virtual assistant is useless, troubleshooting can't find the problem and Diagnose and Fix just tells me there is still a problem. I am despairing, especially as - on rare occasions - it works.

Can anyone help please?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand that you are getting an error code B305ED09 on your printer. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. 
We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.
