Hi @wolfweilen,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 8610 printer is suddenly showing up as an OfficeJet 8500 in Windows 11 and has limited functionality (like no wireless printing), it’s likely due to a driver mismatch or corruption. This can happen after a Windows update or driver auto-update.
Steps to Fix the Issue
1. Remove Incorrect Printer Driver
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Click on the OfficeJet 8500 entry and select Remove device
- Then open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- If the printer still appears, right-click and remove it again
2. Remove Old Driver Package
- Press Windows + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter
- In the Print Server Properties window, find and delete any drivers related to OfficeJet 8500 or 8610
3. Download and Install the Correct Driver
- Go to the official HP driver page:
👉 HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support Drivers for Windows 11 - Download the Full Feature Software and Driver package
- Install it and follow the prompts to reconnect your printer (via Wi-Fi or USB)
4. Reconnect the Printer via HP Smart App
- Download: HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store, or open the HP Smart App
- Add your printer again and ensure it connects via Wi-Fi
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
