Windows does not seem to recognize the printer.  It was working and then it wasn't.  I have rebooted the modem, the wireless router, run the HP smart diagnostic.  The printer and the computer are on the same network.  I reinstalled the printer using the windows 11 install feature.  No success.  Any thoughts.

Hi @Bill11091934,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity issues between your printer and Windows after it had previously been working fine. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Connection and Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is turned on and in the ready state.
  • Verify that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Check all cable connections if using a wired setup and ensure they are secure.

Check Printer Status in Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Look for your printer in the list. Make sure it is not listed as "Offline" or "Paused".
  • If it is offline, click on your printer and select Use Printer Online.
  • If it is paused, right-click on your printer and choose Resume Printing.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Additional troubleshooters.
  • Choose Printer and run the troubleshooter to let Windows attempt to fix the issue automatically.

Check IP Configuration:

  • Ensure that the printer's IP address is correctly configured in Windows. If DHCP is used, the IP address might have changed.
  • Print a network configuration page from the printer's display panel to verify the current IP address.
  • Update the IP address in the printer driver settings, going to Control Panel > Printers > Properties > Ports > Configure Port.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed.
  • Visit the HP Support website and download the appropriate drivers for your printer model if necessary.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software to check if it is blocking the printer connection.
  • If this resolves the issue, you may need to adjust the settings to allow communication between your PC and the printer.

Check Network Conditions:

  • Reboot your network devices, such as your router and modem.
  • Move the printer closer to your wireless router to ensure a strong connection.

Wireless Network Test:

  • Run a wireless network test from the printer's control panel to diagnose any wireless connectivity issues. This can often suggest solutions if problems are found.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
