We're having a problem with our printer. Last week we had to reset our router, which switched us to a new wifi network. Since then, the wireless light on our printer has been flashing and we haven't been able to print anything. We've tried turning off the router and the printer and neither has worked. I notice we have to wiggle the power cord on the printer sometimes and I'm wondering if that's the cause. Is there a way to change the wifi manually (although this is a USB printer, isn't it)? Any help would be appreciated. HP has been zero help.

Hi @ificandream,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w printer is having trouble reconnecting to the new WiFi network. Since this model supports wireless printing, you should be able to reconnect it manually. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue.
Check the Power Connection
- Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. If wiggling the cord affects the printer, consider checking or replacing the power cord to see if that resolves the issue.
Reconnect to the New WiFi Network
Control Panel on the Printer:
- On the Printer's Control Panel:
- Navigate to the Network or Wireless menu. This may be accessed through the settings or setup menu, depending on your printer model.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer will search for available networks.
- Choose your new WiFi network from the list and enter the password if required.
- Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the connection.
Using HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart App:
- If you haven’t already, download and install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device from the HP Smart website.
- Add Your Printer:
- Open the HP Smart app and click on Add Printer.
- The app should detect your printer if it’s connected to the same WiFi network as your device.
- Follow the prompts to connect the printer to the new network.
Using Printer's IP Address:
- Print Network Configuration Page:
- On the printer, go to the Network menu and select Print Network Configuration Page to get the IP address.
- Access the Printer’s Web Interface:
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the printer into the address bar.
- Navigate to the Network settings and update the WiFi settings manually.
Check the Printer's Status
- Ensure that the printer's wireless light is solid (not flashing), indicating that it is connected to the network.
Reinstall Printer Software
- If the above steps don’t work, reinstalling the printer software on your computer might help. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
