HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have very recently bought the HP ENVY 7220e all in one printer. I am starting to think this was a poor decision. I have had nothing but issues right from the moment I took it out of the box. I have a MacBook pro, running on the most recent operating system. Despite this, after several attempts and nearly throwing the printer out the window I managed to connect it to my MAC. I printed a couple of pages to make sure it worked then put it in it's place and switched it off. I have just gone to print from it again and low and behold it is OFFLINE!!!!!!! and I cannot get it back online, and I am once again tempted to throw it through the window and curse it as being an epic waste of money and below standard piece of technology, with a rather simple task in the modern world. I followed the trouble shooting advice on the HP website to run a diagnostic, but surprise surprise it was unable to do this as the printer is offline. Which has now lead me here and officially at the end of my tether. Can someone anyone please give me direction and advise that will actually help get this working. Although I am lacking in hope given not even the HP directions were able to assist.

Hi @Ellen2602,

On your Mac, the printer status is Offline and the printer does not print.

Perform the following tasks in the order given. Try using the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.

Run Diagnose & Fix

Locate and run Diagnose & Fix in the HP Smart app for Mac and Windows computers.

1. Open the HP Smart app, and then open Diagnose & Fix.

If you do not have HP Smart, download it from HP Smart - Microsoft Store or HP Smart - Mac App Store.

  • macOS: Click your printer, click Printers in the top menu bar, and then click Diagnose & Fix.

Opening Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart for Windows and Mac

Click Start.

NOTE: Do not close HP Smart while the troubleshooter is running.

Clicking Start for Diagnose & Fix in the HP Smart app

Follow any instructions provided if any issues are found.

Diagnose & Fix results in the HP Smart app

If the issue is not resolved, select one of the additional resources, or go to HP Customer Support and search for the specific issue or error message you are experiencing.

Re-add the printer

Remove and re-add your printer from the print queue to clear any error states.

  • Click the Spotlight icon, and then search for and open Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the printer name, click Remove Printer or the Remove button, and then click Remove Printer or Delete Printer when prompted.

Removing the printer from the queue

Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax or the Add button , select your printer in the list, and then click Add.

Reset the printing system (macOS)

Resetting the printing system on a Mac can resolve problems such as print jobs stuck in the queue, connection issues, and incomplete driver setups.

NOTE: A printing system reset removes all HP and non-HP printers and scanners, and clears all print jobs and saved print settings. All printers and scanners must be set up again after completing the reset.

  • Click the Spotlight icon, and then search for and open Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click or click while pressing Control in the Printers list, and then select Reset printing system to complete the reset.

Resetting the printing system

Restart the printer.

Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax or the Add button , select your printer in the list, and then click Add.

Please refer to this document to know how to Create a manual IP connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
