Hi @Janet5420,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "invalid WPA passphrase" error indicates that the password you are entering for your WiFi network is not being accepted by the printer. Here are some steps to resolve this issue:

1. Verify WiFi Password

  • Ensure that the WiFi password you are entering is correct. Note that WiFi passwords are case-sensitive.
  • You can verify the password by checking the settings on another device that is connected to the same network.

2. Use the Correct Network:

  • Ensure that you are selecting the correct network name (SSID) from the list of available networks on your printer.

3. Restart Devices

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it.Restart your router by turning it off and on again.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on after the router has fully restarted.

4. Reconfigure Wireless Setup

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Network Setup.
  • Look for an option to Restore Network Settings or Restore Network Defaults.Confirm the reset.
  • After resetting the network settings, attempt to connect to the WiFi network again using the correct password.

5. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support page.Download and install any available updates.

6. Use WPS for Easy Setup:

  • If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), press the WPS button on your router:
    • On your printer, go to the network setup menu and choose the WPS setup option.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

7. Check Router Settings

  1. Router CoFnfiguration:
    • Access your router’s settings by entering its IP address in a web browser.Ensure that the router is not set to hide the SSID.
    • Make sure that the router is set to use WPA/WPA2 security.

8. Use HP Smart App:

  • Install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or tablet from the App Store or Google Play.:Open the app and follow the instructions to set up the printer on your WiFi network.

9. Factory Reset Printer

  1. Factory Reset:
    • As a last resort, perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to default and may resolve persistent connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
