We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Own an hp envy 6455e. Printer isn’t used too often. Have always despised this app because it has always had issues but now I cannot connect to printer anymore. I’ve followed all steps that they tell me to do to connect it but the printer just will not. Have tried hard reset, have tried disconnecting everything. At this point I don’t know what I can do and no one at hp is able to be reached. Can’t imagine using them ever again at this rate

Hi @Emcchillin

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP Envy 6455e is being stubborn about reconnecting. Let’s try some additional steps to get it back online:

Step 1: Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  1. On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5 seconds.
  2. The power button should blink, indicating that the network settings have been reset.

Step 2: Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Add the printer by following the on-screen instructions.
  3. When prompted, select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Ensure the printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router.

Step 3: Assign a Static IP Address

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer to find its current IP address.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  3. Navigate to Network Settings and assign a static IP address to the printer.
  4. Save the changes and restart the printer.

Step 4: Update Firmware

  1. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest firmware update for the HP Envy 6455e.
  3. Restart the printer after the update.

Step 5: Check Router Settings

  1. Ensure your router is set to 2.4 GHz, as some printers do not support 5 GHz networks.
  2. Disable any MAC address filtering or firewall settings that might block the printer.

Step 6: Test with Another Device

  1. Try connecting the printer to a different computer or mobile device to rule out issues with your current device.
  2. If it works on another device, the problem might be with your computer’s settings.
