Hi @noggle2015,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 2700 series printer is having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi network. The flashing blue light indicates that the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode, but it seems it's not successfully connecting to the network. The WPS light flashing on your router suggests that the WPS button has been pressed, but the connection hasn't been made. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Reset the Printer's Network Settings:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the power light starts blinking. This will reset the network settings.

Reconnect Using WPS:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Press the Wireless button on the printer until it starts blinking (if it isn't already).
  3. Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes. The printer should start connecting to the network. The blue light on the printer should become solid once the connection is established.

Reconnect Using HP Smart App:

If the WPS method doesn't work, try connecting using the HP Smart app:

  1. Download and install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer.
  2. Open the app and add your printer.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to connect your device directly to the printer's temporary Wi-Fi network for this setup.

Update Printer Firmware:

Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.

Restart Router and Printer:

  1. Turn off both the printer and the router.
  2. Wait for about 30 seconds.
  3. Turn the router back on and wait for it to fully restart.
  4. Turn the printer back on and try connecting again.

Manual IP Address Assignment:

Sometimes, assigning a static IP address to the printer can help with connectivity issues.

  1. Access your router's settings (typically by typing the router's IP address into a web browser).
  2. Find the section for DHCP reservation or static IP addresses.
  3. Assign a static IP to your printer's MAC address.

Check for Interference:

Ensure there are no physical obstructions or electronic devices that might be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal between your router and printer.

Factory Reset (if all else fails):

As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their defaults.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Resume button (or the Wireless button and the Cancel button) while you turn the printer back on.
  3. Continue to hold the button(s) until the attention light starts blinking.

After the factory reset, you'll need to set up the printer again from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
