Hi @Liz363,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP printer’s Wi-Fi symbol is flashing and the amber light on the “i” icon is lit. This usually means the printer is having trouble connecting to your network or there's a pending error that needs attention.

1. Reset Wi-Fi Setup Mode

This puts the printer back into setup mode so it can be rediscovered:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
  • The Wi-Fi light should start blinking. This means it's ready to connect.

2. Reconnect Using HP Smart App

  1. Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Tap Add Printer.
  3. Follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
    • Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi if available. HP printers often don’t support 5GHz.

3. Check for Pending Errors

The amber “i” light may indicate:

  • Paper jam
  • Low ink
  • Cartridge issue
  • Firmware update needed

Open the HP Smart app or printer display to check for any alerts.

4. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on; this clears temporary glitches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
