Hi @Liz363,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I know how frustrating it is when your HP printer’s Wi-Fi symbol is flashing and the amber light on the “i” icon is lit. This usually means the printer is having trouble connecting to your network or there's a pending error that needs attention.
1. Reset Wi-Fi Setup Mode
This puts the printer back into setup mode so it can be rediscovered:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
- The Wi-Fi light should start blinking. This means it's ready to connect.
2. Reconnect Using HP Smart App
- Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
- Tap Add Printer.
- Follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi if available. HP printers often don’t support 5GHz.
3. Check for Pending Errors
The amber “i” light may indicate:
- Paper jam
- Low ink
- Cartridge issue
- Firmware update needed
Open the HP Smart app or printer display to check for any alerts.
4. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on; this clears temporary glitches.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
