I have a new WiFi. My hp Officejet Pro 8610 won’t connect to it. Any suggestions? I’ve tried rebooting my WiFi system, called Xfinity, tried the WPS button holding for 3 seconds as suggested and also used the password, even through Xfinity I changed my password and nothing has worked. Please help….

Hi @Smilingeyes03,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It sounds like you've already tried several steps to connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 to your new Wi-Fi network. Let's go through a more detailed troubleshooting process to help resolve this issue:
- Can your printer see the new Wi-Fi network, or does it not appear in the list of available networks?
- Are you receiving any specific error messages or codes on the printer’s display when trying to connect?
- Is your Wi-Fi network set to 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or both? (The OfficeJet Pro 8610 typically connects to 2.4 GHz networks only.)
- Is your printer located close enough to your router to receive a strong Wi-Fi signal?
- Have you checked if your printer's firmware is up to date?
Verify Wi-Fi Network Settings:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is set to 2.4 GHz. The OfficeJet Pro 8610 does not support 5 GHz networks, so it needs to be connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Reboot Printer and Router:
- Turn off your printer and unplug the power cord. Also, turn off your router. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug in the router and let it fully boot up. After that, turn on the printer and try connecting again.
Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer’s control panel, tap the Wireless icon or go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings, then select Wireless Setup Wizard. This will prompt the printer to search for available networks.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the new password carefully, ensuring there are no typing errors.
Check Network Security Settings:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is using a supported security type (WPA, WPA2). Avoid using WEP, as it is outdated and less secure, and some newer devices or firmware might not support it.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @Smilingeyes03.
Please find the remaining steps below.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- Reset the network settings on your printer to default, which can often clear any saved incorrect information. To do this, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings. After resetting, try to connect to your Wi-Fi network again using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Assign a Static IP Address:
- Sometimes, assigning a static IP address to the printer can resolve connectivity issues. You can do this via the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer to get the current IP address.
- Enter the printer's IP address into your web browser to access the EWS.
- Navigate to the Network section and set a manual IP address outside the router’s DHCP range.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can do this via the printer's control panel or by visiting HP’s website:
- On the control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Follow the prompts to install any available updates.
Disable Wi-Fi Direct:
- Ensure that Wi-Fi Direct is disabled as it may cause interference. Go to Setup > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Direct > Off.
Try Using a Different Device:
- If the printer still doesn't connect, try connecting it using a different device, like a smartphone or another computer, to rule out potential issues with the current device.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on a connected computer. It can diagnose and help fix connectivity issues.
If the issue persists, there may be a deeper network compatibility issue or a hardware fault. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
