@Mike1460, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is showing a "WPA passphrase doesn’t match exactly" error even though you're sure the password is correct, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:
Double-check the Wi-Fi Password
- Ensure there are no extra spaces before or after the password.
- Passwords are case-sensitive—make sure Caps Lock is off/on as needed.
Restart Devices
- Restart your printer, router, and computer or mobile device.
- Sometimes a simple reboot clears up temporary glitches.
Reconnect Using the Printer’s Control Panel
- Go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and re-enter the password carefully.
Forget and Reconnect to Network
- On the printer, go to Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Then try reconnecting using the Wireless Setup Wizard again.
Check Router Settings
- Ensure your router is using WPA2 or WPA3 encryption (not WEP).
- If your router has MAC address filtering, make sure the printer is allowed.
- Try changing the Wi-Fi channel or SSID temporarily to test.
Update Printer Firmware
- If possible, connect the printer via USB and check for firmware updates using the HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant.
Use HP Smart App for Setup
- Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
- Use it to set up the printer—it often handles Wi-Fi setup more reliably.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
