Hi @Barr5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When a printer starts printing but then stops midway, it can be frustrating. Here are several troubleshooting steps to help diagnose and resolve the issue:

**1. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open all accessible panels and trays, including the input tray, output tray, and rear access door if applicable.
  • Look for any paper jams or obstructions and carefully remove any jammed paper.
  • Sometimes small pieces of paper or debris can cause printing issues. Remove any obstructions found in the paper path.

**2. Check Printer Status and Settings

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers or Printers & Scanners.
  • Check if there are any print jobs stuck in the queue. Cancel any stuck print jobs and try printing again.
  • Ensure the printer is set to the correct paper size and type for your print job.

**3. Examine Ink or Toner

  • Verify that the ink or toner levels are sufficient. Low or empty cartridges can cause printing issues.
  • Make sure ink or toner cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reinsert them to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • If your printer has a removable printhead, clean it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Ink clogs can affect printing.

**4. Perform Printer Maintenance

  • Run any available printer cleaning or alignment utilities through the printer’s software or control panel.
  • Visit the HP Support website or the manufacturer's website to check for and install any available firmware updates for your printer.

**5. Check for Software Issues

  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the printer manufacturer’s website.:
  • Try printing from a different application or file to see if the issue is specific to a particular program.

**6. Check Network and Connectivity

  • If using a wireless printer, ensure that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Check for any network issues or signal strength problems.
  • For wired printers, make sure all cables are securely connected and undamaged.

**7. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Access the printer’s settings menu and look for an option to restore factory defaults or settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
