Hi @amanda39078,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the issues with printing documents from your iPhone to your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301 and configuring Tray 2 as the default, try the following steps.
Fixing the issue with printing documents:
- Ensure the correct app is being used: For document printing, make sure you're using the HP Smart app or the AirPrint feature. If you're using the AirPrint option, make sure your printer and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi network.
- Check the file type: Some documents (like PDFs or Word files) might have compatibility issues. Try printing a different document or converting it to a compatible format like JPG or PNG and see if the issue persists.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check and update it through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.
- Restart Devices: Restart your printer, iPhone, and WiFi router to reset any potential connection issues.
Setting Tray 2 as Default:
- On the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301, you can configure the tray settings through the printer's web interface:
- Open the Printer's Web Interface: On your iPhone, enter the printer’s IP address into a web browser (you can find it through the printer's display under Network Settings).
- Login to Admin Settings: Use the default credentials if necessary (typically, admin/admin unless changed).
- Navigate to Paper Handling or Tray Settings: Look for options related to paper sources and set Tray 2 as the default.
- Alternatively, you can try setting Tray 2 as the default directly from the printer control panel:
- On the printer’s display, go to Settings > Tray and Paper Handling.
- Select Tray 2 and set it as the default tray.
If the problem persists, try reinstalling the HP Smart app and reconnecting your printer to ensure everything is set up correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
