Hi @Amy330,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can print without an internet connection or a subscription, depending on the type of printer and how it’s set up. Here’s how you can print under different scenarios:
**1. Direct Printing Without Internet
USB Connection:
- Wired Printing: If your printer is connected to your computer via a USB cable, you can print documents without needing an internet connection. Ensure that the printer drivers are installed on your computer, and you should be able to print directly.
Bluetooth Printing:
- Wireless but Not Internet-Based: Some printers support Bluetooth. If your printer and computer or mobile device support Bluetooth, you can print over Bluetooth without needing an internet connection.
**2. Printing with a Local Network
Wi-Fi Direct:
- Direct Connection: Many modern printers support Wi-Fi Direct, allowing you to connect your device directly to the printer without needing an internet connection. You can usually enable this feature from the printer’s control panel and connect your device via the Wi-Fi settings.
Local Network Printing:
- Home Network: If your printer is connected to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you don’t need an internet connection to print. As long as your devices and the printer are connected to the same local network, you can print documents.
**3. HP Instant Ink and Subscriptions
- HP Instant Ink:
- Subscription-Based Service: HP Instant Ink is a subscription service that monitors your ink levels and automatically ships replacement cartridges. If you’re enrolled in this service, it’s an optional subscription for convenience and cost savings, but it’s not required for basic printing functionality.
- Printing Without Instant Ink: You can still use your HP printer without HP Instant Ink. You can purchase ink cartridges from retail stores or online as needed.
**4. Printing from Mobile Devices
Direct Printing:
- Mobile Apps: Many printers come with mobile apps (such as HP Smart, Epson iPrint, etc.) that allow you to print directly from your smartphone or tablet without an internet connection, provided the printer is connected via USB, Bluetooth, or a local network.
Google Cloud Print:
- Deprecated Service: Note that Google Cloud Print was discontinued in December 2020. If you’re using a service that depended on Google Cloud Print, you’ll need to find alternative methods for printing directly from mobile devices.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
