Same thing with my LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw on Windows. It just decided to quit. I have run all the tests and diagnostics (for what litte they are worth) and it tells me everything is fine, but EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT TO PRINT, no matter what program I try gets this totally USELESS message
This printer has been nothing but a nightmare since Day 1, HP support is non-existent, and their error message provide ZERO information. HP used to be a reliable company, but they have gone so far downhill in the past few years!

@joyceedwardspho, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to print. To assist you better, are you using Win 10? Let us try these steps:
Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
- Do you have the full-feature printer driver installed or are you using the HP Smart app to print?
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply.
I am using Windows 10.
I have tried printing photos, emails, documents, full pages, selections, etc. and none of that works with this printer. (I have a Brother printer that works perfectly for all of those things.) I am also able to print on this printer from my ipad, and once in a while from my phone, so the problem apparently relates to an incompatibility between Windows 10 and the printer.
This week, scanning is working - many weeks, the scanner is not recognized.
Copying works, both black & white and color.
I have added the IP number to a new port, which I have done many times in the past. This time, that did not help.
I have run Scan Doctor MANY times and it has NEVER worked. It tells me the printer is offline and it has not fixed the problem, which is useless information, since that is the very problem I am trying to resolve.
At one time I had the full driver installed and working, but about a year ago, it quit working and I was never able to successfully reinstall the driver. it would get to a certain point and quit. So I suppose now I only have HP Smart (I won't tell you what I think of that name!) available, though I find it almost as useless as the Scan Doctor, since it seldom works. If I try to check the printer status from my control panel, which had worked in the distant past, it flashes up the blue screen very briefly, then goes back to the control panel, without providing any useful information. (Actually, it doesn't even provide useless information, it simply DOES NOT WORK.
I am especially angry right now as I have just spent nearly $250 on new toner cartridges, for a printer that doesn't work unless I spend HOURS trying to troubleshoot the blasted piece of junk.

@joyceedwardspho, thank you for the information.
As the printer is able to make copies and print from the iPad, it means the printer hardware is working fine.
- Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
Install the printer using the TCP/IP port: (I understand you have tried installing using the IP address, try the below method again)
Check for any pending Windows updates first.
- On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
- Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
- Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
- Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
- Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
- Try printing.
Let me know how it goes.

I did steps 1-5 above with no problem, but then it told me
so I tried to find the printer driver, which is nit in the list. (This has been a recurring problem!!! But then EVERYTHING with this printer has been a recurring problem for over 18 months.)
So where can I get the driver, and why is it not available from HP?
Once again, i am having to waste HOURS trying to get this blasted device to work. I should be getting paid by HP for all the hours I have to spend on this.

The last step would be to install the printer using Windows built-in driver
Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.
If the issue persists, I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

That gives me 2 choices - HP Smart (which has not seemed to work lately) and 123.hp.com which was never successfully able to install the full driver before. which option do you recommend? I suspect both will just waste more of my time, but I really need to get this printer working again for a few days (which seems to be the best I can hope for.)
I appreciate yur help, but dealing with your company is an exercise in futility as they don't want to deal directly with the consumer.
