I keep getting a Message "PRINTING IS UNSUCCESSFUL" when using my Android Cellphone to Order a Print Job using HP Smart for my HP3830 Inkjet All In One Printer. The Print Job is actually successful. How do I get the Message from HP Smart that "PRINTING WAS SUCCESSFUL"???

Hi @EricM6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The message "PRINTING IS UNSUCCESSFUL" in the HP Smart app, despite a successful print job, is likely a glitch in the app or how it communicates with the printer. Here are steps to resolve or mitigate this issue.

Update the HP Smart App

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app on your Android phone is up-to-date.
    • Open the Google Play Store.
    • Search for HP Smart.
    • Tap Update if available.

Check Printer Firmware

  • Make sure your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer has the latest firmware installed.
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your Android phone.
    • Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Uninstall.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Reinstall the app from the Google Play Store.

Reset the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure the printer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Use the Wi-Fi Direct option for direct printing if needed.

Clear HP Smart Cache (Android)

  • Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Storage > Clear Cache.

Test with Other Devices

  • Try printing from a different mobile device or computer using HP Smart.
    • This can help determine if the issue is specific to your Android phone.

Enable Print Notifications

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Go to Settings > Notifications.
  • Enable or re-enable printing notifications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
