HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is connected to my home network wirelessly and when I want to print from my laptop, the laptop asks for a passcode in order to connect to the printer.

the printer HP network configuration page printout says that the Admin Password is "Not Set."  How do I create a passcode for my printer?

I never did figure out how to get a passcode for the printer.  But out of desperation I left the space blank and hit "enter" on my keyboard and my laptop connected wirelessly to my printer.  Surprise!  It works.  I have no idea why WIN10 on my laptop requested a printer passcode when it would connect without one.

@SHullah

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I believe you are trying to connect to the wi-fi direct network of the printer and it's asking for the wi-fi direct password.

Try the default password as 12345678.

If it doesn't work then provide the below details:

  • What's the Wi-Fi light status on the Printer(Blinking or Steady)?
  • Are you trying to print from an Android or Apple phone?
  • Could you share the screen where it's asking for the password?

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
