HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301cdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Unable to establish a WI-FI connection.  There is no "RESTORE" or "RESET" when I go to "Settings>Network.  Just keeps asking for a "Printer User" and a "Password".  I never set up a Printer user or Password .

I had, on the initial set-up, followed directions.  Found my network, put in the Network Password and printer said OK.  Found the printer on my laptop, but when I tried to print a test page, said there was "No Connection".  But unable to get back to where I can put in the Network and Network Password.  So how do I get the printer to do a RESET so I can redo the network setup ... or is there a secret user and password that I have to put in.

Printers are so frustrating.

Thank you

Hi @ClaudR1010,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble resetting your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301cdw and reconnecting it to your Wi-Fi. To address the issue, here's a step-by-step guide to reset the network settings and reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection:

Step 1: Perform a Network Reset on the Printer

To reset the network settings and remove any previous Wi-Fi configurations, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the printer if it's not already powered on.
  2. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wireless icon or the Settings icon (depending on the model).
  3. Select the "Network" or "Wireless" option to access the network settings.
  4. Find and select "Restore Network Defaults" or "Reset Network Settings." This will remove any saved Wi-Fi configurations.
    • If you don't see this option in the Settings menu, try looking under Network > Wireless Settings > Restore Defaults.
  5. The printer should display a message confirming the reset. Once done, the printer's Wi-Fi settings will be restored to factory defaults.

Step 2: Reconfigure the Wi-Fi Connection

After resetting the network settings, you'll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to the Wireless Setup Wizard (usually found under Network > Wireless Settings).
  2. The printer should now search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password for your network when prompted.

Step 3: Check Printer Connection on Your Laptop

Once the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, check if the printer is visible on your laptop:

  1. Open the Printers & Scanners section in Windows.
  2. Click on Add a Printer or Scanner.
  3. Your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301cdw should appear in the list of available printers. Select it and follow the on-screen instructions to add it.

Step 4: Login to Printer User (if prompted)

If the printer prompts for a "Printer User" and "Password" after the reset, these are typically the administrative credentials for the printer's web interface. You can try the default login:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: 123456 (or leave it blank)

If these don't work, you can try accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) via a web browser (use the printer's IP address to access it), and reset or configure the password settings there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I followed these instructions.  But under "network" there are no options for wireless settings.  What do I do to for wifi connection?

  1. Select the "Network" or "Wireless" option to access the network settings.
  2. Find and select "Restore Network Defaults" or "Reset Network Settings." This will remove any saved Wi-Fi configurations.
    • If you don't see this option in the Settings menu, try looking under Network > Wireless Settings > Restore Defaults.
