Dear Community,

I get this "SMTP email server error. The server might be down or busy. Try again later." error since a week to configure my Edited to send scanned documents from my printer. I have tried multiple combinations with SMTP port 587 and 465, etc. But I am not able to add my FROM profile to my HP printer.
This error has come since a week (today is 30.01.2026 17:27 CET), before a week everything was fine. I could send emails FROM my Edited address to multiple email ids.

See the below two screenshots for the settings/configuration I have selected.

Many thanks in advance for your kind support.

Welcome to the HP Community --

The following might help if the root of the issue is one of access control on the receiver's side and not an outright refusal based on something internal to the receiving server.

Consider -

Open your email provider's security -

Switch off 2FA (2-step verification) --

This action removes your App Password that is a necessary component to the SMTP Scan to Email setup.

Wait a minute.

Switch on 2FA

Create a new App Password.

Edit your Scan to Email Profile -

Remove the old App Password and replace it with the new App Password.

Finish and save the Profile.

Dear @dragon-fur,

Thank you for your quick response. I could fix the problem by creating a New App Password in my **bleep** Settings. Your response was helpful as this directed me to find the fix in my **bleep**/Google Security Settings and not in the HP-Smart App.
Cheers and have a great time!

Warm regards,
