My HP Smart Tank Plus 570 name has started showing in  the HP Smart App as SCAN ONLY……DO NOT DELETE and will not print properly from my HP laptop. It will print perfectly from my phone and other devices but from my laptop when I try to print  say a document, it prints endless pages with a few lines of random text. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Welcome to the HP Community --

 

"Scan Only - Do not delete" is a scanning queue -- it was perhaps added by the Print and Scan Doctor at some point.

 

Note for later:  In spite of the name, the queue can be removed when other printer software is uninstalled / reinstalled.

 

HP Smart - Windows > Simple Document Print

 

When the main HP Smart print window is opened, there should be a drop-down list in the upper left corner, just under the word "Printer".  The list provides the available "Printers", that is, the installed drivers / printing queue options.

 

Select the Printer you want to use -- look for the printer name and possibly the word "network".

Regardless of else, don't select the "Scan Only" queue.

Check / Set the Default printer -- this can help reduce problems.

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

 

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down > Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

 

 

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

and / or

If you get into trouble, Uninstall / Reinstall the Full Feature Software for the printer.
