Hi. I have a HP 8720 OfficeJet Pro. My PC is windows 10 (64 bits) with the last update (2004 and 20H2) connected by wifi and I can print normally.
The issue: Two days ago the service of Scan & Email worked well but now it is not working. The error message in frontal panel of printer is ("Network connection error. Check network and try again") and the message in PC (testing the configuration) is "Error. Your printer cannot connect the server" and the consequence is that it is impossible scan and sent a pdf from printer to PC by email.
I verified the email account, the passwords, the server address, the SMTP port and all was ok, I uninstalled the printer, reinstalled the software and nothing, eliminated and reinstalled the web services and nothing.
I need help to activate the Scan and Email function.
How I can solve the problem? Please help me.

The issue could be as simple as Web Services being down.
It does this sometimes.
The only thing you can do on your side is to stop Web Services - wait a minute - start Web Services
Check for any difference.
What if Web Services won't start?
What if Web Services appears to start but still doesn't actually do anything?
Assuming Web Services is indeed the source of the problem, the only thing you can do is wait.
The service usually recovers - it can take a few hours to several days.
"We" don't have any access to the servers, to Web services, or to any HP internal service.

Well, you covered most of what I can think of before you posted the first time.
You may have to dig a this a bit to find the underlying cause of the problem.
The source of the failure may not be obvious.
For example...
So... what else?
First off, stop using the printer panel for adjusting the configuration.
Instead, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to configure / check your setup.
Why? It's easier and there might be fewer opportunities for making small errors.
What else?
Using Gmail?
If you have not logged into your gmail account for a while, do so.
That is, open your browser and log into your gmail account.
Check the security setup.
If you are using Two-step security, make sure it is still checked.
OR
If you are using "Less Secure Passwords", make sure it is still checked.
Important:
Gmail might "uncheck" the "less secure" setting after a time.
Gmail does not like the setting and will eventually override it.
See your Gmail account for details.
What else?
Restart everything, including the router.
What else?
Make sure that your Windows Mail is set up and that you have added your Gmail account to it.
Make sure Mail actually works - that is, open Windows Mail and check it (receive / send mail).
What else?
For Gmail...
If you were using SMTP poor 587, try switching to SMTP port 465
If you were using SMTP port 465, try switching to SMTP port 587
What else?
Another odd one...
IF you have Outlook installed on your computer as part of your Office suite,
Open Outlook (program on the computer)
Make sure it is (still) configured and working as expected.
Very few things disturb Outlook - migrating from one version of Windows to a newer version can disrupt the service.
Example

ABout your advices:
- I did a semi full printer reset and later I configurated all in printer using EWS (no more printer control panel), and nothing...the problems stills.
- I use an private email server different of gmail. I checked server (sent/receive) email and everything was ok using webmail, outlook and right now I am sending and receiving email in this account normally.
- I restarted, email, printer, outlook, PC, internet modem-router.

Well, I'm out of ideas for the moment.
We (Experts) don't have access to all the tools.
I'll forward a request and see if we can get some "new eyes" on the subject.
IF we get a response, it will be here before anyone tries to contact you using other means.

You are welcome.
I might have missed something obvious.
I think, though, that the printer needs (would benefit from) a Semi-Full Reset.
It is not awful, but the procedure has the potential to break the printer.
Non-HP people are not allowed to tread in these waters with customers.
I did request a review.
It may be awhile.
As important as this is to you (and me), there are a LOT of requests and very few of us who answer the pleas for help.
Hang in there.

@sad-user-print, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I see that you have tried all the possible steps to resolve this issue and also performed the semi-full reset on the printer.
I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.
Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region for further assistance.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
