Hi @nancyglowinski,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You are absolutely right to be cautious; what you described strongly suggests a scam. Here’s why:

Red Flags

  • HP never uses “Worldwide IT” for support. Official HP support communications come from @hp.com domains.
  • No case number or confirmation email from HP is a major warning sign.
  • HP’s official support site is 123.hp.com, but scammers often mimic this name to trick users.
  • HP does not ask for remote access or payment for basic troubleshooting.

What You Should Do Immediately

  1. Do NOT share any personal or financial information with them.
  2. Disconnect any remote access software if installed.
  3. Change your passwords (HP account, email, banking if shared).
  4. Run a security scan on your PC for malware.
  5. Report the scam to HP👉 HP Fraud Alert: Protecting Yourself from Scams | HP® Official Site

How to Contact Real HP Support

  • Use the HP official site:
    👉 HP Contact Options
  • Or the HP App for direct support.

Tip: HP will never ask for payment for warranty support or send you to third-party companies like “Worldwide IT.” If you received an email from them, it’s a scam.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
