No changes from last time printing

"Security Warning

The printer "HP DeskJet 4100 series [xxxxx]" appears to be a different printer than the previously used printer with the same name or the connection may not be trustworthy. If this is expected, tap "Continue".

Where/why is this coming from and is the printer safe to use? Ty.

Hi @Janster2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If the printer is connected to a secure network, only the device on that network can access the printer. I do not think that there is a security threat here.

Are you using Mac/Windows OS?

If Mac,

Let us try these steps:

  • Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the MAC
  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
  • The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon to get detailed information.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Monitor the printer. If the error persists, we will try to assign a static IP address to the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
