@LucyOC77, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The message typically indicates that your computer is detecting a discrepancy with the printer.

Here are potential reasons for this message:

  1. A Change in Printer Configuration: If the printer has been reinstalled, reset, or updated, it may appear as a new device to your computer, even if it has the same name.
  2. Network Changes: Changes in the network configuration, such as a new router or adjustments in network settings, can cause the computer to think it's connecting to a different device.
  3. Security Settings: The computer's security settings might be identifying the connection as potentially untrustworthy due to variations in the IP address, MAC address, or certificate changes.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

  1. Verify Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the network or directly to your computer with the correct cables.
  2. Printer Settings: Check if any settings have been modified on your printer; you can also reset the printer settings to default and try reconnecting.
  3. Trust the Connection: If this is a known and expected printer, you can tap on "Continue" to trust the connection. This should resolve the issue.

If you have not done anything different and are still experiencing this issue, it might also be helpful to:

  • Reinstall Printer Drivers: Sometimes reinstalling the printer drivers can help resolve discrepancies.
  • Restart Printer and Computer: Try restarting both the printer and your computer to refresh connections.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
