HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I have the HP Envy 6455e printer and I'm beyond tired of it.  It doesn't work more often than it does.

I performed a factory reset on it and am trying to add it through the HP Smart on my laptop.  Half the time HP Smart can't even find my printer, even though my laptop, printer, and router are within 5 feet of each other.  Now and then it will find my 6455e, but it always gets stuck on the final step where it says it's finalizing set up.  After a minute, it says it can't connect my printer to my wifi.

I'm almost to the point of throwing it out the window and buying another brand.  Please help me avoid the frustration and unneeded expense of another printer.

Hi @jdloftness,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

You have certainly done a great job performing these steps.

If your HP ENVY 6455e All-In-One Printer is stuck on the "Finalizing Installation" step, it can be frustrating, but there are some steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a troubleshooting guide to help you:

Wait Patiently:

  • Sometimes, the installation process may take longer than expected. Give it some time, as the printer might still be finalizing the setup.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Allow the printer to go through the startup process again.

Restart Your Computer:

  • If the printer is connected to your computer, try restarting your computer as well. This can help refresh the connection between your computer and the printer.

Check for Errors on the Printer Display:

  • Look for any error messages or prompts on the printer's display screen. These messages can provide clues about what might be causing the issue.

Check Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network, ensure that the network connection is stable. You may need to check your router settings or move the printer closer to the router for a better signal.

Perform a Factory Reset (Advanced):

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings and return the printer to its default state.
  • To perform a factory reset, consult the printer's user manual or visit the HP support website for specific instructions related to your printer model.

Update Firmware by selecting the current OS. Click here

If none of the above steps resolves the issue, it's advisable to contact HP support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or guide you through the process of resolving the problem.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
