Hi we have recently upgraded to Sky Fibre unfortunately our HP 5530 Envy printer will not contact. I have used the password and the wps function without success. I have disconnected both printer and router without success. Can anyone help. Having searched for a solution it seems I am not the only one, that being the case why is has this not been addressed. Thank you.

Hi @Bobba1955

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re facing an issue where your HP 5530 Envy printer is unable to connect to your Sky Fibre Router, despite using the password and the WPS function. This issue is quite common with newer routers or network settings, but don’t worry—there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

1. Check the Printer and Router’s Compatibility

  • Wi-Fi Network: Ensure that both your printer and router are on the same network. Some printers only work on the 2.4 GHz network, so you may want to check your router settings to confirm that both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are available and that the printer is connecting to the 2.4 GHz band.
  • SSID Visibility: Make sure your router’s SSID (network name) is visible and not hidden, as some devices have difficulty connecting to hidden networks.

2. Check the Printer’s Network Settings

You can try resetting your printer’s network settings:

  • On your HP 5530 printer, press the Wireless button on the printer control panel.
  • Select Wireless Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • After that, try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network from the printer again.

3. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Again

Since you’ve already tried using WPS, it’s worth trying again but with a slight modification in approach:

  1. Activate WPS on your Sky Fibre Router. Most Sky routers have a WPS button or a WPS option in the router’s settings page (refer to your router manual for exact details on how to enable it).
  2. Press the WPS button on the printer when prompted, and the printer should attempt to connect to the router via WPS.
  3. Wait for the connection to be established. If it fails, try the next steps.

4. Connect via Wi-Fi Settings Manually

If WPS isn’t working, you can manually enter your Wi-Fi network information:

  1. On the Printer: Go to the wireless settings menu from the printer's display.
  2. Choose Network or Wireless Setup Wizard.
  3. Your printer will search for available networks. Select your Sky Fibre network from the list.
  4. Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
  5. Confirm the connection, and the printer should be connected.

5. Update Router Firmware

It’s worth checking if your Sky Fibre Router has the latest firmware update:

  • Log into the router’s admin panel (usually through a web browser at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
  • Check for firmware updates and apply them if available.
  • Some newer router updates include fixes for connectivity issues with specific devices, such as printers.

I hope this helps.
