This problem came out after i change my router.
Product: Smart Tank 515
Router: Keenetic Hopper DSL
I have 2 identical Wi-Fi network on my router. One of for me, one of for my guests.
HP Smart app recognizes both of my networks. But it see my main network as a un-encrypted, un-safe.
These networks both encrypted with WPA2-PSK, also both supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
When I'm trying to connect my main network, it says "Couldn't get an IP address".
But I'm able to connect it my guest network. But I can't use it there, because guest network has Client Isolation.

Hi @hk050,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Network Settings on Router:
- Ensure both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are enabled.
- Make sure the SSIDs (network names) are unique for each band to prevent any confusion.
- Double-check that the Wi-Fi security mode is set to WPA2-PSK, as some printers may have trouble with mixed security modes.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off the printer, router, and any connected devices, then turn them back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- Reset the network settings on your HP Smart Tank 515 to clear any previous configuration.
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for at least 3 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
- Press and hold the Information button and the Cancel button simultaneously to reset network settings.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi using HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer and follow these steps to reconnect:
- Open the HP Smart app and select Add Printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to select your Wi-Fi network (ensure you select the correct, encrypted network).
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted and complete the setup.
Disable Wi-Fi Auto-Channel Switching:
- On your router, disable auto-channel switching and set a fixed channel for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Sometimes, channel switching can interfere with stable printer connectivity.
Update Router Firmware:
- Ensure that your router's firmware is up to date. You can usually check for updates through the router's administration page.
Check and Adjust Router Security Settings:
- Verify that the router’s firewall settings are not blocking the printer.
- Disable guest network isolation if it’s enabled, as this can prevent devices on the guest network from communicating with the printer.
Assign a Static IP Address to the Printer:
- You can assign a static IP address to your printer to prevent IP address conflicts.
- Access your router’s configuration page.
- Go to the DHCP settings and reserve an IP address for your printer based on its MAC address.
- Manually configure the printer to use the static IP address through the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app.
I hope this helps.
