I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 6001 isn't printing in color and the option doesn't appear in the print dialog on macOS 14.6.1, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Settings
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP Smart Tank 6001 from the list.
- Click Options & Supplies > Options, and ensure that the color printing option is enabled.
2. Ensure Correct Driver Installation
- Visit the HP Smart Tank 6001 Driver Page to download and install the latest macOS drivers for your printer.
- During installation, select the Full Software and Drivers option, not just the basic drivers.
3. Verify Print Job Settings
- When printing a document:
- Open the document you want to print.
- Go to File > Print.
- Expand the Print Settings menu (if minimized).
- Look for a dropdown labeled Presets or Layout and ensure it's set to Color (not Grayscale).
- If you still don’t see the color option:
- Click Show Details in the print dialog to access more settings.
- Look for a section called Quality, Media & Quality, or Color Options.
4. Reset the Printing System
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control + click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- Add your printer back:
- Click the + button and re-add the HP Smart Tank 6001.
5. Test with a Different File/Program

6. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

- Open the HP Smart App.
