Laptop broke so can't update my setup printer details with new network name through it. Have android tablet now so downloaded HP Smart app thinking I could do this on it but my printer is not listed on this app  & neither can I update the printer list. Found IP address & serial no but doesn't recognise these either.  Have tried connecting via wifi, ethernet, turning off, disconnecting but no luck. Virtual adviser wants me to upgrade but this printer was working fine untiI I got my new BT homehub2.  Per HP Network Configuration Page printer network status is offline & wireless status is disconnected. The Wireless Network Test Report states Network name (SSID) was not found & is listed as hpsetup.

Any ideas anyone?

If the HP Smart app is not recognizing your old HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One printer, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

 

  • Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that your printer model, the HP Photosmart C4580, is supported by the HP Smart app. Older printer models might not be fully compatible with newer apps. You can check the official HP website for a list of supported printers.
  • Update HP Smart App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. Outdated versions may not work properly with newer operating systems or devices.
  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve communication issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Connect to the Same Network: Ensure that both your printer and the device running the HP Smart app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they are on different networks, they may not be able to communicate.
  • Check Wireless Settings: Make sure your printer's wireless settings are properly configured. You may need to reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings on your printer if you've changed your network or router.
  • Reinstall HP Smart App: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app. This can help resolve any software glitches that may be causing the issue.
  • Use a USB Connection: If your printer has a USB port, you can try connecting it directly to your computer via USB and see if the HP Smart app recognizes it. This can help determine if the issue is related to the wireless connection.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can improve compatibility with newer apps.
