Can power outtages kill the wifi connection with my printer.  It simply will not connect.  The printer is 2 years old so out of warranty.  Everything else in my house connects just fine.

Hi @redchaironthela,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Router Settings:

  • Ensure your router is functioning properly and broadcasting the SSID (network name).
  • Confirm the 2.4 GHz band is enabled, as not all HP printers support the 5 GHz band.

WiFi Signal Strength:

  • Move the printer closer to the router to ensure it is within a strong signal range.
  • Avoid obstacles such as walls, metal furniture, or other electronics that can weaken the signal.

Restore WiFi Setup Mode

Printers With Touchscreen Control Panel:

  • On the control panel, open the Wireless or Setup menu.
  • Select Network Setup or Settings, then select Restore Network Settings.

Printers Without Touchscreen Control Panel:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button for five seconds until the wireless light starts to flash.

Using HP Smart App for Setup

Bluetooth and Location Services:

  • Enable Bluetooth on your device where HP Smart is installed.
  • Enable location services on mobile devices and allow HP Smart to access location information.

HP Smart Setup:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Click Set Up a New Printer or Add Printer.
  • Follow the prompts to enable Bluetooth and establish the WiFi connection.

Manual Connection Using Wireless Setup Wizard (Touchscreen Models Only)

  1. Open the Setup or Network Menu:
    • Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Follow prompts to select your WiFi network and enter the password.

Ethernet Connection Setup

Connect the Printer:

  • Plug an Ethernet cable into the printer and router.

Add Printer via HP Smart App:

  • Open HP Smart, click Add Printer, and follow the prompts for wired network setup.

I hope this helps.
