@2013si, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with connecting your Printer to the network or to the device from which you want to print.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again as the service provider was changed.

1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the information.

Unfortunately this has not rectified the problem.

I have tried using HP smart on Android the printer not detected while in WiFi setup mode.

I have tried HP smart with Windows 10, the printer and scanner work via USB but I am unable to setup WiFi. The error shown is 'Network Capabilities are not available'.

I have also connect the printer to a linux machine with HPlip. Using the 'setup Wifi Via USB' returns '1 wireless capable device found'. On clicking next the error 'Unable to locate wireless hardware on device' is shown.

Any further help would be appreciated.

@2013si, Thanks for getting back to us and for trying those steps—I really appreciate your patience. I know how frustrating it can be when your printer suddenly won’t connect, but let’s see what else we can do to get this sorted.

Since your printer is showing "Network Capabilities are not available", and even the HP Smart app or HPLIP setup isn’t detecting the wireless hardware, this might indicate a deeper issue with the printer’s wireless module. But before jumping to conclusions, let’s go through a few more troubleshooting steps:

1) Power Cycle Everything

Turn off your printer, router, and the device you're using (PC, phone, etc.).

Unplug the printer’s power cable and wait about 2–3 minutes.

Restart your WiFi router and wait for it to be fully up.

Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and try connecting again.

2) Check for Wireless Direct

On your printer’s control panel, look for Wi-Fi Direct (or something similar).

If available, try connecting your device to the printer using Wi-Fi Direct instead of your home network.

This helps determine whether the printer’s wireless hardware is functioning at all.

3) Reset Network Settings on the Printer

On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.

Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to reboot.

Try setting up WiFi again using HP Smart.

4) Check Printer Firmware

If the printer works via USB, you might be able to update the firmware.

Download the latest firmware for your SmartTank 700 from HP’s support page.

Install the update and then try reconnecting to WiFi.

5) Test with a Different Network

If possible, try connecting your printer to a different WiFi network (like a mobile hotspot). If it connects, the issue might be with the router settings rather than the printer itself.

If none of these steps help and your printer still says "Unable to locate wireless hardware", there may be a hardware-related issue. At that point, I’d recommend reaching out to HP Support directly for service options.

Let me know how it goes! Happy to help further if needed.
