1.5 hours on chat with support.  they had NO idea.  suggested I pay extra for premium support -infuriating.  for a printer I bought last week.  Would NOT scan - got this in a loop for an hour.  reboot, blah blah

FINALLY DISCOVERED.  click on "Sharing Preferences" in the Printer systems box

I clicked on "internet sharing" and "bluetooth sharing" and HP Smart finally connected.  Whew.  That's 3 hour of my time I'll never get back.
