Subject: HP Printer Keeps Disconnecting from Mac

Hi, I’m having a problem with my HP printer. The printer keeps disconnecting from my Mac. Sometimes it connects normally and I can scan, but suddenly the printer disappears and becomes disconnected. After waiting for a while, it sometimes reconnects by itself through the cloud connection.

I also noticed that this can happen after I open the printer cover or adjust the paper. I have to wait for it to reconnect before I can scan again.

This is very frustrating because I need to use the printer for work. Could you please help me fix this connection problem permanently?

Hi @elmelda ,

1. Smart Tank 580 printer only connects to 2.4 Ghz network.

2. Most modern routers and wireless network providers has a "mixed wireless" with 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz all together.

3. Maybe you need to talk with your network provider to make a "separated" network settings,

asking to setup or "split" for 2 network connections, one for 5.0 Ghz and another for a 2.4 Ghz network.

4. Then setup again your printer and make sure to connect to 2.4 Ghz network.
