Hi @Schnitto,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting a blue screen on the touchscreen of your HP Envy 4524 usually indicates a firmware or hardware issue. Here are steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Check for Error Codes
- If the touchscreen shows an error code or message, note it down. It may provide specific guidance for troubleshooting.
3. Reinitialize the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- While it's off, press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Turn the printer back on.
4. Update the Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If you regain access to the printer's touchscreen, check for firmware updates using the HP Smart App or from HP’s official website.
- Ensure the printer is connected to your PC via USB or Wi-Fi before updating the firmware.
5. Reconnect the Printer
- On your Windows 10 PC:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Remove the HP Envy 4524 if it is listed.
- Re-add the printer by selecting Add a printer or scanner.
6. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve connectivity or hardware issues.
7. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings
If the above steps don’t work, try resetting the printer:
- Access the settings menu on the printer (if the touchscreen becomes functional).
- Navigate to Tools > Restore Factory Defaults or similar options.
8. Inspect for Physical Damage
- Check for any visible damage to the touchscreen or other hardware components.
- Ensure all cables are securely connected.
