Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Printer had similar problem several months ago.  I thought the problem was solved when I called HP tech support (and was charged 150.00 because my warranty had expired).  I was told there was a virus on my computer (an HP Chromebook) and the virus was removed and it worked. For a while when the printer failed to connect, I had no problem reconnecting. Now it's back to the same problem - the usual procedures aren't working.

I like this printer - it does good work for the use I put it too. But dealing with HP ends up being a nightmare - signing in is a problem - the choice I am faced with is paying 16.99 a month for tech support (6 months minimum) or $99 for one consultation - which is almost twice what I paid for the printer. My experience with HP has been a frustration and if I can';t resolve this issue, I will get another printer from a manufacturer that regards customer service a priority. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @dan25744,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 3700 printer and the connectivity problem with your HP Chromebook. Given the issues you're facing, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the connection problems:

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromebook.

  • Restart both the printer and the Chromebook, and try reconnecting them.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer from the power source.

  • Wait for about 60 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the printer.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • Remove the printer from your Chromebook's list of devices.

  • Add the printer again by following the standard process for wireless printers on a Chromebook.

Check for Driver Updates:

Network Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is functioning correctly. Try connecting another device to the network to check for network issues.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • You might consider doing a factory reset on the printer. This would revert any configuration changes made.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
