I cannot connect my deskjet 4100e to my wireless router from T-Mobile.  There is no wps button on the router.  My iPhone is connected to it.  TVs and computers too.  Advice?

Hi @Nancyefm67,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP DeskJet 4100e printer can't connect to your T-Mobile wireless router (which lacks a WPS button), here’s how to connect it manually using your iPhone or Mac:

Option 1: Use HP Smart App on iPhone

  1. Download HP Smart from the HP on the App Store.
  2. Open the app and tap “+” to add a printer.
  3. Make sure the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode:
    • If it’s not, press and hold the Wireless button (or Wireless + Cancel) on the printer until the light starts blinking.
  4. HP Smart will detect the printer and guide you through connecting it to your T-Mobile Wi-Fi.
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.

Option 2: Use HP Smart on Mac

  1. Download HP Smart from the HP on the App Store.
  2. Open the app and click “Set up a new printer”.
  3. Ensure the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode (blinking blue light).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Additional Tips

  • If the printer is not in setup mode, you can reset network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless + Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  • Make sure your phone or Mac is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
  • Avoid using guest networks or 5GHz-only bands if the printer supports only 2.4GHz.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
