Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

The network the printer was previously connected to is no longer available, so I am trying to change the network the Deskjet 2545 is connected to but keep getting that the EWS page is unavailable. It seems HP software keeps failing to detect the printer when connected by USB so I am unable to scan using any HP software.  The Windows Scanner on other software is able to scan from the printer, but some of those applications are limited in their options so I would love to go back to HP Smart.

Is there another way of changing the network settings on these old printers?  It's frustrating only having access to the virtual agent, and it keeps saying that my serial number in not valid.

Hi @garmac38,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When you are unable to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) and are having network issues with your HP Deskjet 2545 printer, there are a few steps you can follow to resolve these problems:

Check USB Connection:

  • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Try using a different USB cable or port if the printer is not detected.

Reinstall HP Printer Software:

  • Remove the current HP printer software from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software for your printer model from the HP Support website.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Since the previous network is unavailable, you'll need to reset the printer network settings and reconnect to your current Wi-Fi network:

    1. Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking.

    2. Use the software to set up the wireless connection again by selecting the "Wireless Setup Wizard" through the HP printer software.

Access EWS Using a New IP Address:

  • After reconnecting to the network, find the new IP address by printing a network configuration report from the printer’s control panel.
  • Enter the new IP address in your web browser to access the EWS.

Check Firewall and Security Software:

  • Ensure that your computer's firewall settings allow communication with the printer.
  • Temporarily disable firewall and security software to see if it resolves the issue.

Scan Using HP App or Printer Software:

  • With the printer connected to the new network and detected by the computer, try using the HP app or the HP printer software to scan documents.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
