HP Smart recognizes the printer and finds the SSID. It gets past the 'configure printer' step but does not connect to the network. I have no problems with an Officejet 3830 dealing with the same network 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, a MacBook, a HP laptop and a Dell Inspiron 1500. There is no issue with the correctness of the SSID password.

Hi,
Print and evaluate a Wireless Network Test page, does it indicate your network SSID within its Current Configuration section?
Can you see any warning or attention indicated on the report header?

Mesh networking uses same SSID for both bands, while the Officejet 3830 printer supports 2.4GHz wireless operations only it will not see any such 5GHz SSID and therefore would not be affected from a such, which for a later printer supporting dual-band it may cause connection issues due to having the same SSID for both bands
