Trying to enter my SSID password from my HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Al-in-One Printer - G510n, I'm unable to find the "$" character.

Hi @HugoMoreno,
I'd like to help!
press and hold the * key and it should display additional signs like the $. Otherwise, try to press and hold the # key. One of the keys should give an option to get the $ sign.
You may refer to the printer's User Guide for information
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your reply. I tried both ways and neither worked. Pressing and holding the "#" key on the printer only gives the "#" and nothing else. Pressing and holding the "*@" key gets the "@" once and moves to the next space. Pressing the "*@" once gives you the "@". Pressing it again keeps giving you all other characters like @,%,&,*,(,) and so on, except for the "$". I read the Printer's User Guide, but no reference to the "$" character. The printer does not have "WPS" which would be the easiest way of configuring it. Would it be possible I need a firmware update? The only other choice I have is to change the password to exclude the "$", but it will be a major task given the number of devices I have in the network.
Any other suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks again

The firmware update will not add the $ sign.
Connect the printer to a wireless network with WPS
Complete the network connection by putting the printer and the router in WPS setup mode. Once connected, install the HP software to wirelessly connect the printer to your computer or mobile device.
NOTE:Your network must use Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA or WPA2) security, and your router must support WPS. Google, eero, Luma, and Plume are some router brands that might not support WPS.
-
Make sure your router has a WPS button or a button with the WPS icon
.
-
If the router has a WPS button, do not press the button yet. Continue to the next step.
-
If the router does not have a WPS button, skip to the frequently asked questions in this document for options.
-
-
Place the printer within range of the Wi-Fi router signal.
-
Put the printer in WPS connection mode.
-
Printers with a touchscreen control panel: Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup, select Push Button, and then select Start.
-
Printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press and hold the Wireless
button for five seconds until the wireless light flashes. For Tango printers, press and hold the Wireless button and the Power button on the rear of the printer for five seconds until the blue bar flashes.
-
-
Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router for three to five seconds, or until the connection process begins.
-
Return to the printer and check the status of the wireless light or bar.
-
If the light or blue bar stops flashing, the printer successfully connected to the network. Continue to the next step.
-
If the light is still flashing or turned off, the connection failed. Move the printer closer to the router, and then repeat these steps. If the connection still fails, continue to the frequently asked questions in this document.

Make sure your computer or mobile device is on the same local wireless network you connected the printer to.

My HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer has a screen, but only to display information. It has external left/right arrows to move thru settings. Once you find the setting you want, there is an external OK button in the middle of the arrow's keys to select the option displayed on the screen. There is a Wireless Menu option. Once select it, the following options are displayed as you press the arrow key; Setup Wizard, Manual Setup, Wireless ON/OFF, IP Settings, and Reset Wireless. The Setup Wizard goes searching for the networks and displays the SSIDs. Once you select your network, the little screen displays WPA Passphrase? and at that point, I have to enter the key which contains the "$". The Manual Setup ask you for the SSID, goes searching for it once it finds it, asks for Wireless Mode; 1 = Infrastructure and 2 = Ad Hoc. Once I press 1, it asks for Security 1=None, 2=WEP, 3=WPA. Once I select an option, it asks for the key; the one containing the $ character. Cannot find anything remotely close to Protected Setup.
Thank you again for your feedback.

I also tried press and holding the Wireless button. If it is ON, it turns it OFF. If it is OFF, it turns it ON. It never flashes no matter how long I hold it.
Sorry I forgot to include this in my previous reply. Thank you again.

Yes. As I say in my reply on November 8: "The only other choice I have is to change the password to exclude the "$", but it will be a major task given the number of devices I have in the network." I was trying to avoid doing it because of the desktops, laptops, tablets, cell phones, streamers and smart TVs I will have to change the password. But if I don't have any other choice, I will byte the bullet and do it.
Thank you.
