Turn off automatic firmware updates from the printer’s settings. Printer is turning on in the middle of the night running updates and making noise. I can't find a setting to turn it off as suggested in the help.

@ph69, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Turning Off Automatic Firmware Updates for Your HP Printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Automatic firmware updates can cause your printer to turn on unexpectedly. To disable automatic firmware updates, you need to access your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). Follow these steps:
Step-by-Step Guide
Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Through a Network:
- Find out the IP address of the printer by pressing the Information button to print an Information page.
- Open a web browser on your computer and type the IP address into the address bar (e.g., http://123.123.123.123).
Through Wi-Fi Direct:
- If the Wi-Fi Direct icon on the printer display is off, press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds to turn it on.
- Find the Wi-Fi Direct name and password by pressing the Information button to print a printer information page.
- From your wireless computer, turn wireless on, search for and connect to the Wi-Fi Direct name (e.g., DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 4100).
- Open a web browser on your computer and type in the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.0.12).
Access Firmware Update Settings
- Once you open the EWS, click the Tools tab.
- In the Printer Updates section, click Firmware Updates.
Disable Automatic Firmware Updates
- Follow the on-screen instructions to disable automatic updates.
- If prompted for a password, enter the PIN found on the label near the cartridge access area inside the printer or on the back, side, or bottom of the printer.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
