Hello,
I bought an HP DeskJet 2722 form another person (is used) and I’ve tried to connect into my network in a múltiple ways, but couldn’t connect it to make copies.
I’m new at this, but for some reason when I try to connect my phone and the printer to the printer’s Wi-Fi it requires a password and I do not know it!
Does anyone know how to reset the password thing or another way to make copies from my phone.
thank you’

Hi @YamiletAyala,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the printer is still broadcasting its Wi-Fi Direct signal, which can be protected by a default password or a password set by the previous owner. Here's how to reset the printer and connect it to your network so you can copy and print from your phone with ease.
Step 1: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode (Reset Network Settings)
This will erase the old settings and let you set up the printer like it's brand new:
- Turn on the printer if it isn’t already.
- Press and hold the Cancel (🛑) and Wi-Fi (📶) buttons together for 5 seconds, then release them.
- The Wi-Fi light will start blinking—this means your printer is now in Wi-Fi setup mode.
Step 2: Set Up Using HP Smart App
- On your smartphone, download the HP Smart app from the HP printer setup (HP Smart app) | HP® Support.
- Open the app and tap “Set up a new printer.”
- Make sure your phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network, and the app will guide you through connecting the printer.
🛠 Tip: If the printer isn’t found, try turning Bluetooth on and restarting the app.
Optional: Find the Wi-Fi Direct Password (if you still need it)
If you're trying to print without using a Wi-Fi network, and you're connecting directly to the printer:
- Press the Information (ℹ️) button on the printer.
- A page will print showing the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
You can use that password to connect your phone to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct signal.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
