I moved and got a new wifi setup with new name etc. I was using an Ethernet cable for a while, but I recently changed my room setup and can’t use the cable anymore.
i have tried everything the hp support documents said : I held down the Wi-Fi button, held down the Wi-Fi and cancel buttons, used the hp smart app to try and add a new device, add existing device, ethernet cable connected and not connected, and it continues to tell me to make sure Wi-Fi is connected, so my device never shows up. But I can’t connect it to Wi-Fi without the app, so I just keep going in a circle.
the app told me to look in my Wi-Fi settings for an HP setup network, but that never showed up. I typed the IP address into a url and saw all the information about my device, but can’t change any of it. I even tried to delete my device from my account and watched a video on that, but my device isn’t showing up on my online account. I have to add it. But it shows up on my HP smart app.
someone please help me because I’ve spent three hours on this already and immabout to lose it.

Hi@Bree42,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing Wi-Fi issues with the HP Printer.
Connect the printer using Wi-Fi Protected Setup
Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
Put the printer in WPS connection mode.
Most printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press and hold the Wireless button for five seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash.
HP Deskjet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers: Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Power button on the back of the printer for five seconds until the blue bar flashes.
Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins.
Wait for the Wireless light or bar on the printer to stop flashing. The printer is now connected to the network.

Install HP Smart app to complete setup and support
- Install printer software and drivers.
- Create an HP account and register your printer.
- Connect your printer to Wi-Fi, load paper, and install cartridges.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
