My printer did print from the app on my iPhone when it was installed a few days ago but when I’m trying now it won’t at all and saying error check printer. When I try print again it says printer busy. I’ve powercycled the router, the phone, location settings are enabled as is Bluetooth and I’ve powercycled the printer. The network connectivity test page will print from the app and it shows everything is fine and the connection is good but still seeing the above when printing pictures. Please help.

Hi @Sabriel39,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity or configuration issues with your HP printer when trying to print from the app on your iPhone. Given that the network connectivity test page prints correctly, it suggests that the printer and network are functioning, but there might be a problem with the specific print request or the app itself. Here’s a detailed guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Status
Ensure Printer is Idle:
- Make sure the printer is not in an error state or busy with another job. If it shows “Printer Busy” or similar, wait for the current job to finish.
Check Printer Display:
- Look at the printer’s control panel or display for any error messages or alerts that might provide more information about the issue.
2. Restart Devices
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on.
Restart iPhone:
- Restart your iPhone to ensure it's properly refreshed and reconnected to the network.
3. Reconnect Printer and iPhone
- Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
- Go to Printers and ensure your HP printer is selected.
- If necessary, tap Add Printer or Reconnect to reestablish the connection.
- Ensure your iPhone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. If your iPhone is connected to cellular data or a different Wi-Fi network, it may cause communication issues.
4. Update or Reinstall HP Smart App
- Go to the App Store and check if there is an update available for the HP Smart app. If so, update the app.
- Delete the HP Smart app from your iPhone.
- Reinstall the app from the App Store.
- Set up your printer again in the app.
5. Check Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel if connected to the internet.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
