A few weeks ago when we updated our two Mac desktop computers to OS Sequoia 15.0.1 they stopped printing to our Laser Jet Pro MFP M225dw. A message said “Expired Certificate “
We are able to print from our iPhones and iPad.
How can we now print from our desktops?

Hi @mwfast
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering an "Expired Certificate" error when trying to print from your Mac desktops after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.0.1, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:
1. Update Printer Firmware
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw. Visit the HP Support website and look for your printer model to find firmware updates.
2. Remove and Re-add the Printer
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select the printer and click the - button to remove it.
- Then, click the + button to add the printer back. This can refresh the connection and update any settings.
3. Check Printer Settings
- After re-adding the printer, make sure that you select the correct driver. Sometimes, macOS might choose a generic driver that could lead to issues.
- Ensure you’re using the HP driver specifically for the LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw.
4. Check for Network Issues
- Since your iPhones and iPads can still print, ensure your desktops are connected to the same network as the printer.
- Try resetting your router to see if that helps.
5. Reset Printing System
- If the issue persists, you can reset the printing system:
- In Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- After this, add the printer again as described above.
6. Check for macOS Updates
- Make sure your Mac is fully updated. Sometimes, subsequent updates can resolve compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have an HP Color Laser Jet MPF 476nm printer that was rendered useless after the Mac OS update Sequoia 15.0.1." Expired certificate" error. No software updates for this model from HP.
I deleted the printer on my Mac. Then I went to "Printers and Scanners" in my settings and checked "Add Printer". I selected "IP" from the top of the window, then entered the IP address of my printer that was assigned by my router into "Location" in the bottom window. I then clicked on "Use" and selected "Generic PCL Laser Printer. Now it works!! I renamed my printer in "Printers and Scanners" from the IP address name to HP Laser Jet. No solutions from Apple or HP worked.
