@Enchantress94, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If you're unable to reach your printer over Wi-Fi, there are several steps you can follow to resolve the issue. Here's a comprehensive guide:
Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled:
- Check if the wireless capabilities of your printer are turned on. You can usually do this by accessing the printer's control panel menu and making sure Wi-Fi is activated.
Restart Network Components:
- Turn off your router and printer. Wait for a few seconds, then power them on again, starting with the router followed by the printer. This can help in resolving communication issues.
Run Wireless Network Test:
- Many HP printers provide an option to print a wireless network test report. This report can diagnose issues and offer solutions.
- To access this, go to the printer setup menu and select the Network option, then choose Wireless Test Report or Wi-Fi Test Report.
Check Computer’s Network Connection:
- Ensure that your computer is connected to the correct network. If using a Windows PC, you can check your network connection status through the Network and Sharing Center. For Mac, use the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar.
Verify Printer Network Connection:
- Print the network configuration page from your printer to see if the printer is actively connected to the network. Check the Network Status and URL on this page.
Firewall and VPN Settings:
- Temporarily turn off any firewall security software to check if it is blocking communication.
- Disconnect from VPN if connected, as VPNs may prevent local network communication.
Re-Add Printer Using HP Smart App:
- Use the HP Smart App to re-add your printer. Remove the printer and then add it back, following the app's instructions.
- Ensure you connect to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi option if prompted and your router supports this frequency.
