Hi @brivigrass,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Smart app indicates that your printer is not connected despite your laptop being connected to both Wi-Fi and the printer, there are several steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Avoid using separate networks (e.g., a guest network) that might cause connection issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your laptop to reset any temporary connectivity glitches.

Ensure Bluetooth is On:

  • For initial setup, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your laptop, as the HP app might use it to detect your printer.

Restore Wi-Fi Settings on Printer:

  • Restore your printer's Wi-Fi settings by running the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel. This can re-establish connectivity to your network.

Use the HP Smart App for Setup:

  • Open the HP Smart app and click the "+" sign to add your printer. Follow the prompts to set up a new printer. If prompted to select a connection type, choose the appropriate option.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • If issues persist, uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart app to ensure you have the latest version.

Network Congestion:

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is not congested. Disconnect other devices temporarily to see if this resolves the connectivity issue.

Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Ensure that your firewall and antivirus software aren't blocking the connection. Adjust settings to allow the HP Smart app to communicate through the network.

Check for Printer Errors:

  • Verify that there are no errors or warning lights on the printer itself, as these can interfere with connectivity.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
