New HP Envy Inspire 7224e, having issues with HP Smart setup on both mobile and computer as the printer either isn’t able to be found in the first place (Bluetooth, location, WiFi etc all switched on) or when it is found, the setup appears to fail at the last minute, with no printer pairing with the app or saying that it is offline. I think it is something to do with my university’s WiFi but the blue light is on continuously and the printer says that it is connected to the same network as my phone/computer. Have tried resetting network settings but keep ending up with the same problem. I have a feeling it might be related to the 2.4/5Ghz thing but I have no personal access to the router as it is university-owned. Is there a way to print documents using cable connections without WiFi/the app? Would be really grateful for any help. 🙂

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

To get the answer to this question, you will not be able to connect to your university’s wifi network as it managed by university.

Many universities will restrict guest and students to connect private printers to their networks. Please contact IT department in your university to sort this out.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you @Echo_Lake

Yes sadly as my university WiFi is a captive network, there is no way to properly work around this. However, I purchased a usb cable and used this to connect my printer and computer, which now works well for printing documents. I then connected both the printer and computer to my phone’s personal hotspot using the WiFi wizard found under the advanced settings on the HP Smart computer app. This then finally allowed me to successfully sign up to HP+ and complete the setup of my printer. Hope this might help anyone else struggling with a similar issue! 🙂
